BONE DRs Knee SurgeryFAQ
Common knee rehab questions.
How soon after knee surgery can I start PT?
Most patients begin PT within 1-2 weeks of surgery, depending on the procedure. Your BONE DRs surgeon will set the timeline, and we coordinate directly with them.
How long is ACL rehab?
A typical ACL reconstruction rehab is 6-9 months, with return-to-sport testing at the end. Every patient is different, and we progress based on your body's response, not just the calendar.
Do I need a referral?
Texas allows direct access to physical therapy, meaning you can start without a referral. However, if you're a BONE DRs patient, your surgeon will coordinate the transition directly.
